	Welcome to Joseph E. Keener's Mountain Workshop in Franklin, NC Hello and welcome to my home and my shop. I'm Joe Keener and I'm a chest builder. For many years I have enjoyed handcrafting wooden round top chests for my family and friends. I am now offering my Heritage Chest to you and your family. It's a great place to store photo albums, family heirlooms, magazines, games and toys. They also make great gifts for moms and dads, grandparents, and old friends. I can even install a personalized name plate at no charge. I hope you enjoy my site and my chest.

My Home and My Shop

You'll find me working from my home and shop which are hidden in the mountains of Western North Carolina in Macon County in the community of Ellijay (means green earth or many waters in Cherokee) near Franklin, NC.

The mountain on which I live is called Little Rocky and is part of the Cowee Mountain Chain which stops at Whiteside Mountain in Highlands, NC. I live on the same mountain my ancestors lived on in 1840.

My home is is a log house which I built myself from logs I cut from my land. The little dirt road that leads to my home is 1.5 miles long and can only be accessed with four wheel drive.

I call my place, THE EDGE OF HEAVEN, for truly we live on the edge of Heaven.
